It would seem that a unit using 9 "AA" batteries
would provide a higher intensity light than this unit provides on the maximum setting.

We have an emotional cat who "marks" on vertical surfaces. This flashlight enables us to find the mark, light up the area so we can see and get it cleaned up. Super convenient. We have 3 in the house and one in the car. And it is very interesting looking. Love it.

Half the cost of the Stanley. Almost identical. Lighting is sufficent enough to change a tire or work on an electrical project. I bought 3 and keep tham handy for power outages which we have all too often here in Northern Michigan. I also discovered that you only need to put batteries in one of the legs to get it to work.
