When my two children each received this lantern I thought they were perfect, nice style, easy to use for small children (4 and 2 1/2), bright light, great for walking or reading at night. We first got them on a family camping trip and then they were used at home.

Only to my disapointment when one of the two stopped working. When I opened it up I found the Rayovac batteries were leaking battery acid, thus leading to the latern to no longer work. About two months later the second lantern broke and for the same reason. To make this even more certain this was not a coincedence, my brother's 2 kids also got one and theirs failed to work for the exact same reason. What are the chances??

I am going to contact Rayovac and see what they can do. I can not believe how disapointed we were with this product.

My kids love to use this at night to read before they go to sleep and also to keep as "security" if they should need a light in the night. It does not drain batteries like some lights. We are very pleased. The only drawback is that you can't choose the color. I have 3 boys and we received the pink one. However, they really don't mind too much so I guess all is fine.

We had bought one of these for our 3 year old son. He loved it and so did his dad and I. So I bought 7 more. We use it for every thing. His favorite is hide and seek. My favorite is for power outages. We use these instead of candles. Ever one has one and we hang one in the hall way so you can see to go to the bathroom or to another room. The price was great.
