The Petzl Tactikka XP is the newest light in the Petzl Tikka series of headlamps and is now available in camouflage or desert tan for the military. Using one high powered LED, this light is brighter than the 4 LED's found in the Petzl Tikka Plus light. Using a new high power focused LED, light output will have three settings plus a 'boost' button producing a 50m beam when required. Other features include a tilting head, sliding diffuser for tactical lighting and an LED battery level indicator. Available in Desert and Forest Camouflage color schemes, the lightweight and compact Petzl Tactikka XP is designed for backcountry hiking and hunting. Equipped with a powerful single LED bulb, three lighting levels, a boost mode and colored wide angle lenses, the high-performing Tactikka XP is ready for adventure. A 1-Watt LED bulb produces a maximum brightness of 40 Lumens. Three standard settings allow you to regulate the length of the beam from 59 feet to a maximum of 114.8 feet. By adjusting the length of the beam, you can maximize efficiency, increasing burn time from 60 hours to 120 hours. For those moments when you need just a bit more power, a convenient Boost mode casts a 164 foot beam for 20 seconds. An additional setting produces a strobe light for emergency signaling. A hinge on the housing of the Tikka XP enables you to aim the beam where you need it most. You can also adjust the beam from a flood beam for sharp, proximity lighting to a spot beam setting for maximum distance. In addition to the standard clear lens, the Tactikka XP includes red, green and blue filtering lenses. These lenses make the beam less conspicuous and are more conducive to maintaining night vision. The Tactikka XP is powered by three Alkaline AAA batteries (included). With batteries, the Tactikka XP weighs a mere 3.35 ounces. A battery level indicator light warns you when batteries are 70% depleted and again when batteries are 90% depleted. A comfortable, elastic headband allows the Tactikka XP to adjust to fit varied head sizes and even includes an integrated carrier for one of the colored lens options. For its size and weight, this is a very versatile light. I use it mainly for night hikes, camping, and some construction work as well as when working on a car. I am on my second (I thought I lost the first, but then it turned up - now I have 2), they seem very sturdy and its performance is great for the size. Highly recommended for all uses.

Great for hunting

I use this hunting, camping, and in my truck. It has two brightness levels, a spot to flood sliding filter, and a simple strap design. With no battery pack on the back of your head, and no overhead strap, it is easy off and on, and works under the brim of your hat. On bright/spot it will help you navigate trails at night. Slide the filter over for a diffused work light.

I keep this light bedside, camping, and even for checking out my garden if needed.. (the green filter allows me to look at plants without affecting their light cycle). The light is also a good thing to have in your car or backpack for emergencies(strobe is also an option). I also use it for mountaing biking, so I can be seen and also see what's ahead. Plus it's much more managable than those 100 dollar plus headlamps which require hours of charging and a separate battery pack which is usually bulky and heavy...
The filter options are great and the beam is powerful, plus there's a boost mode for some extra umph when necessary.
There's a clip for 1 extra filter on the headband (which is a little difficult to get filters in and out of, but secure once in) but the light comes with 3 filters. So, if I had to improve anything, it would be to somehow incorporate a holster for all 3 filters.
Otherwise, a perfect all around lamp, that's weather resistant, ready for adventure, has numerous options and totally, totally, worth the investment.
