Maglite are great durable lights but you need and LED drop-in to make it a bright, long running light.

Maglite doesn't make the 6 or even 5 cell maglites any more. Those made great clubs when the situation calls for it. Unless you're Conan the Barbarian, a 6 D cell maglite is to heavy to swing fast, in control. The size of the 4 C cell lite is useable, but most people miss the 6 cell lites of many years ago.

former police officer wanted something that was comaprable to my older kel lite this meets and exceeds that requirement. I only wish a 6 C cell lite was available.

I was a prosecutor for ten years and learned about maglites from law enforcement officers. I gave each of my daughters one with their first cars. It doubles as an exceptionally durable flashlight and a defensive weapon. Good enough for the cops, good enough for anyone.

the only negative thing that can be said, at all, is that Maglite no longer makes the 5 and 6 'C' cell flashlights - if anyone has one they're willing to part with, i'll pay top-dollar for it! (seriously)
