This is the perfect purse flashlight. It's bright enough to be useful while still being small and light weight, significantly lighter than the 2 AA maglite. Both sizes are quite good for supplemental light in town when walking the dogs, and for general household use (looking under the stove for cat toys, under the dresser for bounced earrings, checking VCR - tv wire connections, etc.), but this size is preferable for winter, when it's dark earlier & I want one in the purse to see keyholes.

Flashlights were given to children who when turning lights off and on, found that the flashlight easily came apart into several pieces - lens, bulb, cover, etc.
