Yes, I would recommend this to a friend
I have several maglites with the older style bulb, it's a night and day difference between the old bulb and new LED. Though the maglite was over 12 years old, it works like a charm. I just replaced the batteries the day before I upgraded the LED, and it was at least 10x brighter with the new LED. I have upgraded all of my maglites to the LEDs, it was much more economical to upgrade than to buy new.
