This was purchased for my grandson-in-law who is a dispatcher; planning on a life as a deputy and wanted this light.
It was much bigger than I expected it to be and that was a good thing.

I own the old style 3 D cell Maglight, bought 2 LED style 3 D cell. Compared the brightness of the 2 and the LED is much brighter. Has alot tighter spot and shines a longer distance. I compared run times to. The light with the standered bulb run 13 hours continues. With about 6 hours of usable light. The LED light had around 30 hours of good usable light. I didn't run LED light much longer than 40 hours because brightness was to weak to be usable. The LED light I ran about 6 hours at a time, not continuesly. I put new alkaline batterys in all 3 lights before testing. LED didn't dim much in 30 hours,I used the light with new batteries to compare them. The LED light is a very good light and well worth the extra money. During a power outage shining the light on the celling is a good way to light a room, brighter than a candle. I highly recommend the LED maglight.

Mag lites are very durable and I have a couple, but this is the first LED mag lite. Its very bright and we'll have to see if the battery life is longer than the normal ones.
