Operation Fully press to switch on and turn the bezel to select the General Mode or the Turbo Mode. A soft-press anytime while the light is on will change the brightness levels of a certain mode. Comments about Fenix Fenix L2D CE Flashlight - Black:

This is easily the best flashlight I've ever purchased to date. But I've only recently realized that is a huge difference between professional-grade flashlights and the (usually) garbage they hang on the pegs at the local sporting goods store.
This flashlight is amazingly bright, I jam it in the front of my bike helmet and it easily outshines all of the other bike headlights we have in our arsenal. (that includes a Cateye HL-300, sold to me as the brightest battery-powered headlamp for bicycles)
The size of the flashlight is also very nice, it is small, lightweight, and rear clicker on/off button is perfect.
Also of note, as others have said, is the smoothness of the beam. There is no hotspot in the middle, it is just a smooth gradient from the center of the beam all the way out to the edges, I cannot stress how much better this is than the normal tunnel-vision effect of most lights.

Now the con:
Selecting the light mode is cumbersome and annoying. You twist the front to switch between turbo and normal, which I could live with, but each mode has a couple of sub-modes that at set by momentary presses of the rear switch. It is advertised that you can make the light remember what mode it was on, but it just plain doesn't work. If you grab it to firmly, you can enable turbo mode for a brief second, and as soon as it leaves turbo mode, it automatically switches to the lowest power mode, so I find that I need to fiddle with the power setting much more often than I would like.

Comments about Fenix Fenix L2D CE Flashlight - Black:

I got this flashlight as a replacement for my minimag LED. I lost it one day when I went shooting. Thus far it's been great, and I appreciate the various modes it offers. it would be nice if it had beam focus like the mag but does well without. the holster for it really grips the flashlight and it doesn't slip out like my maglite did. extra bonus for me there.

Comments about Fenix Fenix L2D CE Flashlight - Black:

This light has to be one of the finest I've ever used. I'm using regular AA Duracells and am very impressed with the long battery life I'm experiencing - running at 40 and occasionally 80 lumens. With my Surefire, I carried spare batteries. I still do, but have yet, in several hours of useage, found any need to change.

We live in a very rural area and power outages are common. This light has saved me having to crank up our Coleman lantern during an unusually long 2 hour outage during which the light was on continuously at the 80 lumen setting.

I'm particularly impressed with the brightness over my Surefire (also 2 AA size).

I very highly recommend it to anyone looking for a tough, reliable, bright and long lasting flashlight, that can be used for virtually any purpose a person can think of.

Kel-Lite, Streamlight D cells - this little Fenix is brighter, more convenient, and lighter than even their 4 and 5 cell models - and lasts longer.

I work on the nightshift as a police officer and have gone through numerous flashlights in the last several years. This flashlight uses cheap batteries, the light bulb lasts nearly forever, it's very light and small, and it's very bright. Awesome flashlight...

Comments about Fenix Fenix L2D CE Flashlight - Black:

I am an inspector for a major airline. I crawl in dark holes and look for cracks and corrosion on large airplanes. This light is the best, you'd have to spend over[$], and lug a much bigger flashlight around to beat this one. I use it everyday at work and 2 AA bats last 2-3 weeks. Only con: Black finish is too slick, like teflon. Had to wrap some sticky rubber tape on the barrel to keep from dropping it.

Comments about Fenix Fenix L2D CE Flashlight - Black:

After reading this light's review on [@], I was excited to try it out for myself. The night it arrived, I took my kids for a "night walk" in the woods behind my house, and was utterly amazed by this flashlight. It exceeded all of my expectations, and I find myself looking for excuses to use it again and again. The light output in turbo mode is just incredible. The width (angle?) of the beam is also great for general use. At a distance of about 50 feet away, it shines a uniform beam of light (no artifacts, dark areas, etc.) roughly 15 feet in diameter, then you get a very nice spill beam that is much wider. The beam does not have a well defined narrow spot; instead it smoothly transitions into the spill beam, resulting in a broad and useful area of bright light. This is by far the best flashlight I have ever owned. The only negative thing I can say is that the finish lacks grip, so it could easily slide out of your hand if you're not hanging onto it. I would still rate the overall flashlight at 4.75 stars.
