This is the flashlight, redefined. All Quarks use the latest CREE XP-G R5 emitter. Preon The Preon was designed to be simply functional, compact, lightweight and very bright. Six levels of output including three special modes. Lightweight and elegant, this is the worlds first AAA powered Cree XP-G flashlight! Make sure its batteries are inserted with the positive side (+) lowered towards the head. Ensure the tail cap is tightened. To turn the Preon on, tighten the bezel (the "head of the light) fully down. The Preon will turn on when the bezel is fully tightened, and turn off when the bezel is loosened. Selecting regular Outputs: To select a different level of constant output, turn the Preon off and then on again within 1 second. This will select the next level of constant output in the following sequence: Low -> Medium -> High If the Preon is turned off for 2 seconds or longer, it will revert back to Low. Selecting Special Outputs: The Preon has 4 special output modes: Strobe, S.O.S., Beacon (Hi) and Beacon (Lo). To access these modes, quickly switch through two full "cycles" of the regular outputs, starting with Low. These two full cycles must be completed within 3 seconds: Low -> Medium -> High -> Low -> Medium -> High -> Special Outputs You can continue to cycle through the special outputs in the following sequence: Strobe -> S.O.S. -> Beacon (Hi) -> Beacon (Lo) After Beacon (Lo) mode, the output reverts back to Regular Low. Both Beacon modes will first flash 5 times and then once every 10 seconds. In the box: Preon O-Ring and Keychain attachment ring

Pleasantly surprised at how bright this light can get. I haven't used it for long periods but the mid-range brightness is plenty bright. The light was smaller than I thought event though the dimensions were listed, and it's surprisingly lightweight. I love it. If it were about half the price I would probably scatter them throughout the house, have one in each vehicle, and give them as gifts.
